Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) was established in the year 1985, with the three primary departments. Ever since, it has grown into a premier institution imparting knowledge and excellence through academic, research and infrastructural developments. The college offers programmes in Engineering and Technology leading to undergraduate Degrees in the disciplines of Automobile Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Marine Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Moreover, it offers ten post-graduate Degree programmes in various disciplines and nine departments are recognized as a research centre by Anna University. The Institute is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council and eight UG programmes have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation.
In 2016, SVCE was conferred with Academic Autonomy status by the University Grants Commission (the first of its kind for an Engineering college in Chennai). In the NIRF-2019 released by MHRD, New Delhi, SVCE has been placed at the 143rd position in the National Level among all technical institutes including IITs, NITs, Government and Government aided Institutions, Deemed Universities and Self Financing Engineering colleges. SVCE had completed sponsored research projects, worth more than 700 lakhs from AICTE, CSIR, DBT, ISRO, DRDO, SERB, BRNS etc.
